With a good link via bus and train, and easy access cycling or by car, there are plenty of ways to travel to us.

Walking and Cycling

With several cycle racks at both our Farnborough and Aldershot sites, and plenty of cycle and foot paths in the area, you can easily get to college by bike. To plan your route, visit: https://myjourneyhampshire.com

Travel by Bus

Students can purchase a StudentRider bus pass from Stagecoach for less than the standard season ticket.  The pass allows students to travel anywhere within the Blackwater Valley area 7 days a week. The smart cards are ordered directly from Stagecoach via their website using your college ID number. 

The college offers full-time students an additional discount of £150 off the price of an Annual StudentRider reducing it from £650 to £500 or £50 off the price of an Autumn term StudentRider reducing it from £260 to £210.  Subsequent discount codes can then be requested for the Spring and Summer terms. 

To request a discount code please email support@farn-ct.ac.uk stating the student name and ID number and also if you require a code for the annual pass or the termly one.

Travel by Train

South West Trains Academic Season Pass

South West Trains offer reduced ticket prices to all full-time students who purchase a Academic Season Pass through the College and are issued on a termly basis. 

You can buy your South West Trains Academic Season Pass online, or through the College Store at http://estore.farn-ct.ac.uk/

Farnborough Main, Farnborough North, and North Camp are all within walking distance of the college. View https://www.southwesternrailway.com/ for more information.

Travel by Car

Car parking is available at both our Farnborough and Aldershot sites and is free of charge for all students.

For the Farnborough site, SatNav users should enter GU14 7AA as their destination. This will take you to our Visitor Car Park.

For the Aldershot site, SatNav users should enter GU12 4PQ as their destination or follow signs for the college once in the North Town area.

StudentRider Bus Pass

Our students travel in easily from a wide surrounding area. All full-time students can buy season tickets for bus and rail travel at reduced prices.

StudentRider Bus Pass
Full-time students can buy a 'StudentRider' bus pass from Stagecoach for less than standard season tickets. The ticket allows travel across Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire throughout the College year. For Farnborough students the total cost for the year is £437 or you can buy them termly (Autumn £175, Spring £169 & Summer £115). You will also need your student ID number (this can be found on your student ID card or your joining letter).

How to apply:

Please go to  www.stagecoachbus.com  and click on StudentTickets. Choose the ticket you require and add it to the basket. Head to the checkout where you will need to register for a Stagecoach bus account. Follow the instructions and remember to add the discount code at the checkout.

Students applying for a discounted Student Rider bus pass

To get this discount, you will need to email support@farn-ct.ac.uk  who will issue you with a discount code. Please state in this email whether you require a discount code for the Full Year Ticket or for the Autumn Term Ticket.

Types of ticket

Blackwater Valley Annual StudentRider £587 – is for the Annual ticket

Blackwater Valley Autumn StudentRider £225 – is for the Autumn Term ticket (if you are buying a ticket termly, you will need to apply for a discount code each time)

For bursary students applying for a StudentRider bus pass

If your bus pass is funded by a bursary, the bursary team will email you a discount code once your bursary has been approved.

Once you receive your code you will need to buy your StudentRider bus pass online. Choose your ticket (Blackwater Valley Annual StudentRider £587) then follow the instructions above.

South Western Railway Pass

South Western Railway offer reduced ticket prices to all full-time students who purchase and Academic Season Pass through us.

  • Passes cost 15% less than you would pay for a full season ticket and are valid Monday-Friday during term time.
  • Passes must be purchased from the College and are issued on a termly basis - You can by your South Western Railway Academic Season Pass online from the 22 August through the college store at https://estore.farn-ct.ac.uk/product-catalogue/student-services
  • Pricing is based on a zonal system set out by South Western Railway.
  • If you are a student receiving a bursary your pass may be fully funded or you may have to contribute towards the cost depending on your location and funding requests.

Students Living in Surrey

Surrey County Council issues Student Fare Cards with travel on busses or trains at reduced rates. These cards are for journeys to and from college for students living in Surrey.

Student Fare Cards are delivered to the College and will be available for collection from the Learner Services Office (based in E Block) once they have arrived. To apply, see the Surrey County Council website here.
